Director’s Statement
In this particular climate with the BLM movement being pushed to the front line, I got the urge to express my perspective on the matter. This film is very personal because it not only represents me, but everyone that looks like me. I have a younger sister, brothers, friends and family that to them the sad truth is; it could be any of us at any moment. There isn’t a better time than now for this film to be made. Visually wise, we drew inspiration from films such as: Moonlight, Fruitvale Station, and Dope. We approached this film with an eye for a real world aesthetic, creating real life movements and perspectives to help drive the emotional elements of the film and to build the foundation of the relationships between the characters in a relatable and cinematic way.
